FODAD's vision is one where the people of Ratmalana and the neighbouring areas enjoy
access to a decent education, healthcare, community facilities and sustainable opportunities
in order to improve their lives.
FODAD's mission is to help bring a long-lasting difference to the lives of those
in Ratmalana, Sri Lanka and the surrounding area, whose live were devastated by the
2004 Tsunami, through the provision of education and skills, access to adequate healthcare,
support and community facilities and meaningful, sustainable employment.
FODAD helps some of the forgotten victims of the 2004 Tsunami to rebuild their lives
and their community. We provide assistance to the local fishermen to generate employment
and wealth creation opportunities; we encourage and promote good education by encouraging
attendance at school and funding vocational skills; we fund medical professionals
and drugs giving access to health facilities and care previously beyond their reach;
we support local sports to foster individual talent and develop teamwork; we provide
immediate relief to those suffering hardship through no fault of their own.
We are committed to improve the lives of those who live in poverty, have inadequate
housing or suffer from poor health through direct action.
We are accountable to the UK Charity Commission and our supporters and promise that
all money raised goes directly to support our mission. We rely and depend on the
generosity of our supporters, donors, volunteers and trustees together to help make
a difference and give Shared Hope for a Better Future.
